I need my brakes bled, where in Cork is good for this job? I've been off the saddle and out of Cork for a while and I don't know what shops are still open/in the same place they used to be.

They are Hope C2 brakes btw.

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

Speedyspokes in Riverstick is who I go to for my bike maintenance and can't fault him.

You should ring first tho. number is properly in the Yellow Pages / internets.

Cork Bicycle Services provide a mobile service - he'll pick the bike up from wherever you are and drop it back to you when it's done.

anyone know if kilgrew's is still operating? Or Harding's? I used to use them alot.

That mobile service looks the business! €25 to bleed the brakes, not bad! Has anyone used him before?

Though I have never used the service (yet) I have met him and had a sneaky peek in the van and he's got a good set up. tbh over my time in the city I have used all bike shops in cork (haven't used speedy spokes for repairs) and its more about who you meet when you go in rather than the place itself and so would be slow to recommend any specific one.
I plan to drop my road bike to Cork Bike Services for a full service in a few weeks as there are a few things that need sorting.

Met the guy running that service last week - he's one of the organisers for the tour of munster. Pretty nice guy - hope it works out for him.

Alternatively Speedy Spokes in Riverstick is a good bet.

Quick review: Just back from him with my rear wheel rim which I cracked off a pothole, he looked at it fixed it, filed it, trued it, (all while I waited and chatted to him) 5 mins later job done and no charge (I think it was due to my involvement in TdM rather than an over grown sense of charity). I'm more than happy to send more work his way. He has a great set up and realy seems to know his stuff, regarding high end as well as more modest gear.
I'm gonna drop in my mtb, after taking flight with a not so happy landing it needs some professional attention, so take from this what you wish but I thought him a real gent who knows what he's doing. 10 outa 10.

Thorough recommendation from me too for corkbicycleservices. Fantastic restoration and refurbishment job done on my 20+ yr old steel bike before Christmas. It had some real difficult challenges, like a welded seat post and an immovable pedal. I'd failed on both over the years after several attempts. Micheál got 'em out. Full overhaul mechanically too and a few new (old) components fitted and it's now rolling as well as it ever has done. corkbicycleservices.ie is a fantastic and unique new resource for cyclists in Cork and deserves our support.

Kilgrews are still open for business. It's on Kyle street just off the Coal Quay. I brought my carbon frame in to them a few months ago with a rear mech hanger that refused to budge. They got it out for me and only charged €5. The original owner of Harding's sold his shop about 15 years ago. I think that the new owners moved it from the South Terrace to White street or Dunbar street at some stage. I don't think that it exists any more though.

    Another +1 for corkbicycleservices.ie
Nice fella, very reasonable, quality job, would love a van like his!

Cork Bicycle Services have just put a new headset in my Cervélo. The total price for the job was only €55 which I think is pretty amazing when you consider that the part alone (a Cane Creek IS-3) costs almost €44 on wiggle, and I got it fitted and the bike delivered back to me for just €11 more!

Got my bike serviced in Kilgrews last year. They did a grand job.

Tried Cork Bicycle Services this time round. Haven't taken it out for a run yet but he has the frame back looking as new. And i'd a fair bit of oil on one part of it. I'll let ye know how it runs. €51 in total but that included 3 tubes so excellent value for pickup and dropoff included.

Also tried Cork Bicycle Services recently after reading recommendations on here and was not let down.

As was said above good value and the pick up and return service is a big bonus.

+1 for Cork Bicycle services. Micheál did a great job sorting the headset on my chinarello frame!
