Did anyone go to the Area 22 event after the match today?

Went along to the Four Seasons after the game, Ryle Nugent was interviewing the RTE panel and Thomas Castaignede. Not a bad place to go - free pint, free food, interesting chat and the chance to ask a question. Also got a free jersey for asking - really nice Puma Ireland jersey, but black and white with Guinness as the sponsor.

I was at the event before the final round of the HCup pool stages as well; also a quality evening. There's another one after the England game in March - heartily recommended!

*Mods: apologies if this comes across as advertising. It definitely isn't meant that way; I'm just quite pleased at getting beer, food and a jersey completely free...

I was on the guest list but when it was moved from the Shelbourne to the Four Seasons it became too much hassle...anyone know why they did that?

You sure this was an Area 22 event? Area 22 is a Guinness/TodayFM/TV3 thing, why would RTEs Head of Sport have been presenting it?

I'm pretty sure the free Guinness, the Guinness logos and the Guinness jerseys weren't just a wild coincidence...

Yeah I was there alright (it was the Guinness Area 22 thing - they do it with RTE after the Internationals). Got one of the jerseys too, have to say they are nice!

Thought it was a decent night and well worth the trip out. Wanted to pull Conor O'Shea up on one point he made but he left soon after the show itself ended. He was giving out about Lievermont not changing his plan for substitutions after seeing Parra play so well. Yet he had previously defended Kidney for his use of the bench saying we should trust him. Kidney hasn't changed his plan for substitutions in any of the games, let alone over the course of 1. We all knew who was coming on and pretty much when they were too.

I've been to a couple of the Area 22 events and I have to say Popey for me stands out as an absolute gent. The OH got her picture taken with him and he was more than happy to oblige and was such a nice bloke.
