Got my renewal notice for my AA Membership Renewal this month. I also get my motor insurance from AA but I am not due to renew this until June. Should I pay Membership Renewal due this month or hang out until June when my insurance falls due and check other companies that may include breakdown assist + home start. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I think AA breakdown cover is seriously overpriced here compared to the UK.
And it'll always be your car that's the 1 out of 10 that they can't fix at the roadside:)

From my personal experience I've found no difference between my insurances's breakdown and AA (both axa and quinn) they have the same response time as well.

However, the breakdown from the insurance companies is limited to trying to fix the problem with what is available in the car, or a tow.

They clipped the end of a split pipe on the fathers bluebird which did until I could get back home, and on another occasion they couldn't fix a sheared bolt on my almera's alternator and gave me the option of a tow to the garage or home (this was in my home town)

From previous experience (pre 2001) the AA always had some degree of spares available in their van's, and depending on what level you got they would offer courtesy cars or even a tow all the way to your destination.

Personally, If I had a job where i'd be driving long distances frequently or was absolutely 100% reliant on my current car (and didn't have another I could use when it was broken down) the AA would be my only option.

I would not bother with the AA. Aviva do a great breakdown package including homestart...

Rescue Plus will tow you to your destination or to a garage and provide a hire car for (I think) 3 days, basically enough to sort out anything with a garage as goes a courtesy car off them if its a complicated problem. If they can't sort out that they'll put you in a B&B overnight. Haven't seen any insurer provide a similar level.

Only problem I had was that Enterprise won't release the car to someone <25 on a Sunday, needs more senior staff around than the security guard...

I too would not bother with the AA, their motor insurance policies are not competitive and they don't include breakdown. AA breakdown cover is something I had years ago but wouldn't bother with anymore as long as insurers offer breakdown cover with their policies. I see the AA as a tax on folks fear of but what if.... :pac:
