Am I entitled to anything?

Hi.

I was put on a three day week last June and when I tried to sign on for the 2 days, I was told that I wouldn't get anything because I hadn't enough contributions m ade in 2008. (I started working in June 2008.)

At the time I was told to try again in 2011, I have full contributions in 2009 and 2010.

I rang citizens information and they told me that I wouldn't get anything as it wasn't a recent loss of employment. Is this right?

I don't want to be means tested as I have a good bit in the bank.

I want to know what I should do now? Am I entitled to anything?

Any advice? Thanks

To qualify for Jobseeker's Benefit, there needs to be a substantial loss of employment and earnings. So if you have been working the same pattern of employment, and have been doing so for some time, you will not qualify for Benefit. They normally look at the past 13 weeks to see the pattern of employment and earnings.
From www.welfare.ie:
You must have suffered a substantial loss of employment in any period of six consecutive days in order to be eligible for Jobseeker's Benefit. This means, you must have lost at least one day's employment and as a result of this loss be unemployed for at least 3 days out of 6 days.

Only savings over €20,000 are taken into consideration for Jobseeker's Allowance, and your earnings as well obviously.
