Hi, I've recently taken an interest in astronomy. You've probably had these posts before and are tired by now advising people so I hope you can bear with me for this one.

Q1: What would be the best type of telescope to buy for the job? I've recently been into smyths toy store and saw one for 80euros. Would this be appropriate to begin with?

Q2: What books are out there that can further aid me in my study of the skies?

If you have anymore advice please let me know.

    Thanks
    Onesimus

Your first stop should be to read the sticky post on this board, titled:
"Introduction to Astronomy, Want a telescope? Please read before posting."
It even has a book recommendation.

If the scope is €80 then it's probably not worth purchasing tbh. Try getting one 2nd hand from the various Irish ad websites you'll get a better telescope for the same price
Plenty of books out there, I'd recommend the 'Phillips guide to stargazing with a telescope' or the 'Haynes manual of astronomy'
