Rremote control video cameras

I was browsing the web today, and I came across these two interesting concepts:

    http://www.canon-europe.com/TV-Products/Products/BU-45H.asp

    http://www.trackercam.com/TCamWeb/IR-Pod.htm

Now I was thinking as to whether is it possible to remotely operate the zoom and focus on your average video camera? I haven't seen this function before, but I'm wondering if there is a remote that you can buy for this?

Obviously, the video camera would have to be compatible....but do you think something like a Canon EOS 7D, or Nikon 7000 could be operated in such a way?
I'm not sure if there is a motor for zooming on the average SLR lenses, but I thought I would put it to the experts :) It would be pretty cool to be able to remotely operate a camera like that.

Also, with live view on the Nikon and Camera cameras-must the camera be tethered to a computer, or can it be 'streamed' over the internet?

I'm not an engineer or anything, so excuse my lack of knowledge....
