What is your average daily diet?

I'm trying to figure out what the best way to eat would be. I know the basics but it would be very helpful if I could get an exact diet plan please

    Thanks.

Everyone's diet is different. It all depends on your goals.

The best rule is to just to eat whole foods, no processed food. Lean meat, wholegrain bread, pasta, rice etc. Healthy fats like nuts and extra virgin olive oil.

    Hope this helps.

I agree with the above poster to the extent that if you are serious about sorting out your diet, you should be doing much more than posting on boards.ie and instead be trying to find out for yourself the best diet that will work for you. However, since you have posted, I might as well give you a brief summary of the most important things your diet should contain.

Firstly, you need to go from 3 - 4 scattered meals a day to a pretty regimented 6 - 7 meals a day. Instead of large meals like you might already have, change it to smaller meals every 2 - 3 hours. This may be difficult if you are working/studying but you should be able to manage by bringing protein shakes/bars/nuts etc around with you. You need to try and get a good mix of protein, carbs and fats into each meal, but I wouldn't be too concerned about that atm, especially considering I don't know what the objective of said diet is (burn fat/gain lean muscle/bulk up). Even spreading out your meals like this would show noticeable changes in your body, surprisingly enough.

Next, you want to start drinking 2L+ of water each day. This seems difficult for people who are not used to doing so, but it becomes habitual after a while and you really do feel better when you've been drinking 2L+ consistently. Water has numerous other benefits such as healthier skin and increased energy so it is definitely worth adding this to your diet.

Finally, the best foods to be eating. Protein wise, your best bet is lean chicken, fish such as salmon and tuna, red meat(try and limit this to once or twice a week), almonds, milk, eggs, protein shakes etc... At the same time, don't over rely on protein shakes if you are going to use them. In terms of carbohydrates, you want to eat wholegrain, complex carbs which will release their energy slowly. Brown rice is especially good, wholemeal bread and obviously fruit and veg is a must. In terms of fat, you can get supplements such as Udo's oil which contain Omega 3,6 and 9 which I personally take and find to be of great benefit. Alternative sources of these "good fats" are oily fish and almonds(these have the double advantage of protein and healthy fats).

Most importantly of all, do not be too strict with yourself and if you are going to follow a strict regime, make sure and give yourself a cheat day at the weekend, where you give in to temptation, so that you don't lose your focus and, more likely, your mind. It can be very difficult to stay on a diet but if you tailor it to suit your needs, you find that it can be enjoyable and it makes a huge difference to your life, in terms of outlook, physical and mental fitness and sexual performance too. So, do some research and get on it.

6-7 meals a day is NOT superior to 1-3 meals a day, unless you handle it better from a psychological standpoint. In fact most studies have shown that 3 meals a day vs 6 meals a day improves blood glucose levels, although insulin levels remained the same in both studies.

again, not dissing this board, but there is not one poster who know **** about dieting/nutrition. stop parrotting stuff you read on your stupid forums

keep fighting the good fight brother.

Although I agree with your first point, your tone and attitude is awful.

Some people on this forum do know what they are talking about, others don't. Same with any forum, so I don't know what your ranting about. If everyone knew what they were talking about this forum debates and discussions and it would be boring.

    What are your credentials anyhow?

Yes dude, your attitude is absolutely ****ing awful. Firstly, if you're so qualified to judge on what is and isn't good advice, why didn't you offer some instead of referring the OP onto other people's websites. Your comment of "stop parrotting stuff you read on your stupid forums" made me laugh so hard when you yourself directed the guy onto a forum. Where do you get your information from, can I ask? And would you please direct me to these studies which you claim are so uniformly advocating a 3 meal per day diet. 6 meals a day not only boosts your metabolism and maximises the thermogenic properties of food, but it actually allows you to eat more calories than you would on a 3 meal a day diet because you can digest small meals at a much faster rate than larger ones. There is so much conflicting advice about health and fitness that either one of us could be right or wrong on that topic, but who the **** are you to be so smug and act as if your "studies" prove that you're right. I have considered both ways of approaching and find 6 - 7 meals to be better for me and I was passing that advice onto someone who asked for help - something which you clearly are incapable of doing.

So please, if you're gonna pick out one point that you don't agree with then fair enough, but that does not entitle you to make comments on my advice, when you yourself didn't want to commit any time or effort to help the OP out in the first place. Tell me, why go on the forum if you don't want to share your "wisdom"? Thanks again, you hypocrite. Cheers.

Low yeast, lots of fruit, veg and lean meat, natural yoghurt and drink plenty of water; success!
