    Hey,

i went on holiday to Malta a few years back. Travel isn't really too much of an issue there are plenty of buses around the place and the island is small enough so it doesnt take too long to get anywhere you want to go. All the locals use small cars or scooters so if you're planning on staying long term then maybe you could get something small.

As for where to stay, anywhere around valetta or sliema is very nice and just a few minutes from marsa if i remember correctly.

There's lovely cheap food everywhere over there and the drink is cheap too which is the best part!

If you have any other questions i would be happy to help if i can.

thanks sivolia for your reply, looking at the measurments of the island i dont have any kind of a picture of it, he hasn,t seen out side the ship yard. i know he hates it but its a job. he's lucky to get one.i will only be visiting there,he lives nomadically on the boats he works on and wages are not good enough to relocate the family. i think i need to go out to get a picture of what its like. see if instead of him sending cash home for the mortgage ,he might be happier with a little flat and send less money.thanks again.

Oh okay, well the island really is quite small. From marsa to Valetta which is the capital would only be about 5 minutes in a car but buses are very frequent and easy to use if thats how you wanted to travel.
It would probably only take an hour to drive across the entire island so that will show you how small it is.
