Hi guys, I'm running for Class Rep Convenor of Aungier St. I'd like to use this forum to try and interact with students from there as I may not get to every class over the next few weeks. I'll be doing as many class addresses as possible and there will be hustings as well.

I have a few aims and things I will try and do if elected. The first is to make the college as a whole more student friendly.
- The basement area is lacklustre. The jukebox is a positive step but we need more. I'm talking consoles, a lick of paint and some new furniture. The place looks far too much like a bus station. Anyone who's ever been to the SU area in Cathal Brugha St. will vouch for how a more comfortable environment in which to relax is beneficial for the student body. Furthermore, I believe that creating an area that the students actually value will be a step towards solving the litter problem. We've had endless posters and the addition of more bins but neither have worked. If we can get students passionate about the SU area, we might just be able to move past the era of the litterbugs.
- I published a canteen satisfaction report earlier this week and I will be meeting with management as part of a team to try and get some improvements such as a review of pricing and free condiments. Elected or not, I will play whatever role I can in trying to get better value for money on-site.

Any chance you could look into getting a sheltered smoking area in the courtyard in aungier if you get elected. I hate having to stand at the front. Beggars always annoy people standing there

Yeah as far as I know of, that is a designated smoking area. I would actually be pushing for an expansion of that though to maybe encourage more students to use it as the other side of it is students complaining about loads of people blocking the main entrance!

I was going to write to the SU this week about a smoking area. I hate walking by a group of smokers at the door. Theres no way to avoid them. Theres a huge courtyard out there, why can't that just be the smoking area so the rest of us don't have to inhale smoke every time we try to leave the building! Surely the shelter out there can be extended

I couldn't agree more. No one should have to be reminded of the dangers of passive smoking. I'll raise this with the appropriate people tomorrow and see what can be done
