    exactly...... are you getting worried

Silage is better this year and cows are milking much stronger. The fields are greener than last year so if temp rises there may be a burst of grass. two herds of cows out grazing beside me, so some brave souls are still putting them out.

Auld fella was at disscusion group meeting during the week and three lads already over, 5/6 more will be. All out grazing by day, and steaming ahead on last year. One of the bigger fellas is in alot of trouble if leavy comes in.
We'll be just about dead on, due to culling a few cows last backend as we had a few extra heifers coming through next two years..

week on week supplies to glanbia have fallen back to the same levels as last year.
there seems to have been a lot of cows milked on over the winter, either empty or late calving, which would mean they wont be there for early production.
clutching at straws at the moment.
it would be a fool not to assume there will be a superlevy as it stands

Each dairy farmer has a QUOTA of volume of milk that he can deliver, levy free. If the country, the processor AND the farmer exceed their quota the farmer will be fined for each kg of fat over their qouta ie a SUPERLEVY

I think that should be fined 28cent /litre for each litre of milk over his quota (which is adjusted for butterfat),

Extremely, had bout 1k gallons free space. With 95% of cows calved, grass bursting out of it and best fed calves in Ireland:rolleyes:, going to be bang on or just over at this stage.

We leased 70,000 litres which is almost full now but been told to drive on, in Kerry

Glanbia is over by 5% and Premier is over now too, alot of milk finding it's way to L'Land and Kerry and the picture is still too close to call, growth rates are low in most areas but milder weather will drive on production and will put us over, But my call is still we will be under marginally .6-.7%.

well what way are lads/ladies feeling now.

we have gone to once a day for the last few day, a little late, but it will still save us 9,000l by year end.

anyone else taken measures to lessen the blow

bugger, hope he has a decent parlour

hope you put you spare quota in for temp leasing, might as well get something for it.

yes i did , but at 1 cent a litre its not going to make me rich , but still i got something from it i suppose

Should be pretty much bang on quota or just under

certainly no levy to be paid anyway

Guy in South Tipp has 190 cows milking but quota for 70. Apparently he has already booked a dispersal sale for 100 cows in the local mart.

excuse my ignorance but if the country goes only a small bit over those that mean you will only be fined on a portion of the over quota milk at the full amount allowing for flexi milk

only paid super levy once and only on a small percentage of what i was over by so i presume that it will be passed back in percentage terms from the country: the processor: the producer. if we are tight this year there will be one mother and father of a super levy to be paid for 2011/2012.

Word at one of the big (over quota) co-ops is that there will be no super levy
