Works on Vu+, though annoyingly my Bitrate Viewer is inactive atm. Can anyone check the bitrate?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,339 ✭✭✭liamtech

works perfectly on the Ross HD satellite box, and the Skyline HDSR400 - I have checked these personally -

Apparently works with the Triax 527 (NON MHEG5 Triax Combi)

Can confirm that it doesnt work at all with the 537 model - no surprise there then as nothing much works with that unit

so with this being a test trans. will it change symbol rate and therefore be viewable on the skybox?

When it officially joins Freesat I imagine the tuning details will be more Sky box friendly

What about the licensing issues with having a British channel on a wide beam?
Thought they could only go on 2d?

It's has an ident of 55300 (I think) and no EPG info, so it is "hiding", also I read somewhere it's on EB1 Steerable beam, so maybe it's "steered" at Britain to keep it away (as much as possible) from Europe.
Anyway only a test so who knows how long it will last while waiting until April for Freesat EPG slot?

Getting very low signal quality on this channel (40%). The other channels I checked are around 80%.

what set top box are you using?

I get 63% on SkyLine HDSR 400, 60% on the ROSS.
For comparison the HDSR gives 92% on BBC HD

I reckon its weaker than the majority of TP's but as long as you get a picture - cant complain-

Curious though about your box - its not a comag by any chance is it - a friend has one and it gives very low signal readings for loads of stations that are usually strong

Actually, getting same quality on Luxe HD. Are these both on Eurobird or something? Might be an alignment issue.

Using a Samsung TV with built-in sat tuner.

that 40% signal quality bty and 67% signal strength maybe it could be mistaken. not sure which is more important

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,417 ✭✭✭✭watty

Quality is the important one. Try adjusting LNB rotation (skew). Start at angle of about 7 O'Clock.

Generally speaking, if a channel is due to be added to Freesat, the Bush/GoodmansGrundig boxes can't add the channels to the non Freesat mode.

On a side note, my Bush HD displays BBC HD, BBC1 HD, ITV1 HD (London) perfectly well, but Luxe HD (or whatever it is called these days) and ITV1 HD (Granada) are jerkey. Am I right in thinking that Luxe and Granada are both transmitted at1920*1080 whilst the first 4 are at 1440*1080?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,417 ✭✭✭✭watty

    Could be true.
I think all terrestrial HD is 1440 x 1080i (basically animorphic shape pixels) and thus they do the same on matching Satellite channels. I'd heard one ITV HD was better. Not checked myself.

bbc one hd and bbc hd are 1440 x 1080i and itv london and the test C4 HD is 1920*1080i, don't know about luxe hd

    Have MVision HD-300 Combo & CH4 HD signal Quality @ 78% (BBC1HD @ 98%).

CH4 SD showing scrambled tonight though ???? CH4+1 ok.

ITV 1 HD Granada, ITV 1 HD Central and STV HD are the only ITV 1 regions in 1920x1080.

ITV 1 HD London and HD Meridian are 1440x1080.

BBC HD and BBC ONE HD are 1440x1080.

    Channel 4 HD is 1920x1080.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,108 ✭✭✭mjsmyth

Hmmm..... Chances are my Bush HD might struggle with it then if it stays at that resolution.

I was thinking of upgrading to a PVR, this might be the spur needed.

    - press the red button(edit TP) when you are in the satellite search
    - then press the green button (add TP)
    - then add all the info Frequency :12607 V
    Polerisation : DVB-S2/QPSK
    SR : 28250
    FEC :3/4
    - then select start search and you are up and running it will show up as 55300 (although it is scrambled again at the moment )

Yes, since December 2007 in fact. Bizarrely, it was never made available to Sky HD subscribers in Ireland - even though E4 HD is available.

It should be possible (maybe only via other channels) to recieve this on a Sky box in Ireland from April. See: http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/index.php/c4hd-to-launch-on-freesat

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Rick_

Depends, it may be launching on that satellite instead of joining 2D apparently.

A post from Digital Spy has this...
I'm very reliably informed, Channel 4 HD's transmission is in no way connected to any uplink deal with the BBC, unlike the Channel 5 SD stream for Freesat, and of course the DVB-T2 Freeview mux
So, it may not be moving on to 2D and may not be changing it's tuning parameters, so Sky boxes in Ireland won't be able to tune it in as Sky boxes are software crippled and won't allow 28250 as a symbol rate. :(

@slim1919 C4HD has not launched FTA yet, wait till it does and then you should be able to add it to your Other Channels.
