    work night and day, supply milk to dairies, they give it to supermarkets for pittance, dairies in turn give you a token amount and a pat on the back, and expect you to be great full for having a job you love.

    op
    a bit more information and why...

    What do you want to know Liquid milk, old system for manufacturing or the new A+B-C ?

    I'm aware of the a+b-c system (more solids = more money: correct?). could you explain liquid milk and old creamery milk payment system please?

    also winter milk bonus - how much on average is it above the spring milk price?

    what's current milk price?

    thanks.

    just another q is the new a+b-c system the payment basis for just spring milk production?

    A and B are the kgs of fat and protein. The higher % of both in the milk the more you get paid. C is the water portion of the milk. The higher the solids the less water has to be dried off it to get to 5% moisture in the milk powder. So low solids milk has high water content so it will take more energy to dry so the C deduction will be higher. High solids milk will have lower water content and will be cheaper to dry. So it is just a way to 'persuade' farmers to produce more milk solids and reduce energy costs and drying times in processing plants. Different plants will have different drying costs so the C will differ ,probably, for different processors. Hope that helps

    I can't explain liquid milk as i ain't a liquid producer, but the payment for manufacturing is set by the processor, different processors set different criteria depending on the product they make, so for example from my own processor it's a base price x @3.6% Butterfat and 3.3% protein and meeting all tests e.g. under 50k for Total bacteria count and under 400k Somatic cell count, if the milk you send has higher butterfat or protein you get extra money e.g 0.2c/l for every .1% in butterfat. and then on the quality side there is a scale e.g. 0-400k = 0c/l 400k-600k -0.5c/l and so on, these are not exact figures but you'll get the jist of it. Vat is then added on to the price but the processor has this factored in already.

    on the A+B-C system
    A= kg of butterfat x € + B kg of protein x € - C kg of milk delivered = price +/- for quality.
