Hi just recently engaged and now starting to think about where to get married. Think it'll be small enough wedding 50-75 max. Want a small enough venue or one that'll be 'just us' so the small numbers dont get lost! Also thinking of having the civil ceremony in same place. Went to see Leixlip Manor and Gardens (previously liffey valley house hotel) and thought it was lovely. My mother is just worried that we dont know what the food is like cos it just does weddings now so cant taste! Bar extension and civil ceremony hire costs not cheap either.

so any thoughts on Leixlip Manor, Tulfarris, Tankardstown, Boyne Hill House, Annebrook House in mullingar, Station House, Lyons estate......any info would be welcome or any suggestions for other venues would also help....am lost!

Bellinter House, Ballymcgarvey, Slane Castle. For the size of wedding your looking at I would go see Bellinter and Tankardstown, we loved both but Tankardstown tops out at 80 people other then that we would have gone there. You have a great option for a BBQ the next day in the sunken courtyard as well.

Check out Ardenode house hotel. I've shot a few weddings there, grounds are very nice for pics and the food is very nice. They also cater for civil ceremonys in the hotel.
It's in Ballymore Eustace on the Kildare/Wicklow border.

Tankardstown is amazing, definitely check it out - perfect for a wedding that size.

The Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim, Co Meath, very impressive, they cant do enough for you. Food is Topdraw. At least check it out. They are having a wedding fair there on Sunday 6th March.

They have a number of rooms and one that will suit your wedding party of 50- 75 http://www.knightsbrook.com/:rolleyes:

Just wanted to say I was at Lyons for first time this weekend and I saw the function room and bar and .... it was really really gorgeous. Definitely should be on your list.

I will also give my very biased recommendation of the Station House Hotel. We got married there and I can't say enough good about them. It's just a really cosy hotel, which you get exclusive use of, and the service is very warm and personal.

    +2 :) expensive though

Love the Station House too, just the right size for a small to medium Wedding. I have shot a couple of weddings in Knightsbrook and cant say its my favourite, Killashee House would be the same. Cant put my finger on why but something about them leaves me a bit cold

I absolutely love Tulfarris, one of my favs. Also Leixlip manor is nice, I covered a civil ceremony there and the room was gorogeous, very bright and stunning grounds.

Ive heard great things about Tankardstown, will be photographing there soon so Im looking forward to it, also consider maybe the Westgrove in Clane, Ardenode Hotel, also with a smaller wedding party I am sure Borderfox would recommend Guinesses, he usually sings their praises for weddings anytime it is mentioned and Im sure it would be stunning.

Heard great things about Knightsbrook but after driving up to the door we didn't even go in. Being surrounded by apartment buildings and housing estates was a big turn off.

Tankardstown is really beautiful and incredibly well finished, fell in love with it but it is too small for us which is a real pity. If your a dog lover they have 4 resident ones.

We were the exact same about Knightbrook, the drive up and getting lost looking for it in a housing estate put us right off, Trim Castle Hotel up the road was much more impressive and over looks the Castle.
