Secondhand phone unlocking?

I bought a used Iphone 4 some while back, when I did it was already jailbroken and unlocked. Could have been from the UK or Ireland. Not sure. Any ideas on how to find out where it was from? If I was to send my IMEI # to the telcos, could they bar the phone for some reason even if I'm in Oz for a while?
