hey, i had a big four internship and would recommend it if you're looking for experience or even just to see if you would like to follow that career...and if you are interested in going down that route, an internship can often be a short cut past the milkrounds to getting a job offer.

When I did my internship a couple of years ago, the pay was decent enough, nothing fantastic but a little bit more than you'd get at your average summer job. The hours are normal office hours, 5 days a week. They typically last 10-12 weeks, and I was lucky to be on a different audit every 2/3 weeks so i got a good flavour of the dept I was working in. They tend to give you proper work to do - typical of what would be given to a new trainee starting in the firm and you're also expected to do appraisals and all that sort of thing.

As far as i know the internship applications are open now and close sometime in feb, check their website. Good luck with it!

I've got internship offers from both pwc and EY, just wondering it anyone knows what they are like any differences between them that would help me decide between them?
Also I'm doing a law degree, just wondering would it go against you when applying for solicitors firms down the line?

Hi ya, I'm a accountancy student and it's my first year. I tried to apply the placement of internship for this summer but failed, I mean Pwc&Deloitte. :(
Could anyone give me some suggestions about C.V tips and what kinds of previous work experences will attract HR's attention to increase my probability to success?
    Appreciate!!!:)

If you're only in first year it could be that they were looking for penultimate year students only to apply..that was the case with pwc i think!

You're right. They did say the internship were just right for penultimate students but I guess that might not be the reason why I was rejected.
I think the point is the lack of previous relative work experience cuz I haven't even had part-time jobs.
Do you have any experience about accountancy or something like that? I just don't know what kind of the area the HR focus on... no clue about it...
Could you give me some recommendation about C.V?
    Thanks a million~:)

    Hey all

I remember what its like to be a student in college.. trying desperately for the milkrounds and looking for internship experience.. it was a catch22 situation..

"i cant get work because i have no experience but if i dont get work, how will i ever get experience"

I've worked for one of the big4 firms in london for 5 years and now im back in dublin..

The internship recruitment process has a few tricks and you need to come across well in an interview..

I have some time free so im more than happy to give free advice on CV's, and the online application process. If you've already applied , and got rejected...its not too late!! You can still apply again!!

Drop me a message if anyone is interested.. this is a genuine offer to all students who are serious about internship experience..

    Thanks

Definitely go with PWC. Even if you read through a few of the milkround threads its clear that they are the preferred choice of those two
