Every second car seems to be failing because of rusty brake pipes of late.

Is it due to the poor weather or the latest scam?

It's an expensive job to fix. Cheap buying the lines themselves it's just the labour involved doing them. On my old lancer I was driving I was quoted 400 quid from an independant to do them...Car was worth about 700 or less so I never bothered getting them done..I reckon I could have polished them up abit as they were not that bad. I had no ramp nor the patience to do it.

Someone on here mentioned their car with copper brake pipes was failed due to corrosion

They just polished them and took it back

The equipment to replace the sections of pipe corroded is not that expensive but it really is a hateful job to do it. I did one side of my car a few weeks ago and it took about 80 mins to replace the foot or so of pipe. As mentioned already, the pipe is about €30 per roll of 25 feet. The straight joints are a couple of each.

Also had a car fail for a corroded brake line. Is it dangerous and should it be replaced rather than polished?
