    hi,

just looking for some advice on vrt. its a bit confusing so here goes.
i imported a car two years ago from the north and paid the VRT now i am moving back up to the north. two questions.

    1. do i have to pay VRT in the north to bring it back to a northern reg?
    2. would i be entitled to any of the VRT tax back (worth a try)?

    thanks

    thanks corkie,

is it because i will have a northern address or is it because the car was originally from the north. do i just go into a motor tax office and re register it do you know.

    cheers

You have to reregister it in the North.
But there's no such thing as vehicle registration tax in the UK, so no matter if the car was already registered there or not, you don't have to pay anything like that.

You might though need to pay some fees for paperwork, and you will most likely need to pay for a set of numberplates.

Would it not be put back on the same reg in north as it used to have before? Either way, only small registration charges to pay in the north.

You'll also be able to move back South with it later, if you need to, without paying more VRT.
