Are neon's legal in ireland ? or any other lights outside the vehicle

Going to sound strange but are you sure i thought i remember reading that once the bulbs themselves are not visable and only the hue from them is that they were fine, if thats not the case cant you still fit them as long as they are either white red or orange??

BTW the i wouldnt fit them either whether they are technically legal or not you will have issues with the gardai

The lighting of vehicles act 1963 states that you can only have:

- White / Amber to the front.
- Amber to the sides (truck etc)
- Red at the back

If your neons do this, then they are legal, however they cant flash or in anyway be a distraction to other road users.

Blue, purple are reserved only for the emergency services and are a massive no-no.

Other colours than those mentioned above are also illegal.

Cars parked off a public road are not subject to the above act.

Neons could be a distraction or a helper depending on situation ... kind of strict road rules but i suppose its for the best

Well I took it out, along with the LEDs in the passenger footwell and the gauges on the dash

A small blue neon in the passenger footwell is actually nice (there's one in the r33)
