The ringtones and other sounds don't seem to be working properly on the phone. It's not loud at all and I don't have any idea what wrong.

    Any ideas?

Have you checked in Settings; Sounds, that the volume adjuster there is turned up?

Ya it's up to the usual level.

Don't have anything blocking your speaker like an ill-fitting case or something?

New problem, or always been this way?

Worth a reboot maybe - no harm.

i have a problem with the sound on my iphone 4.
after using it as an mp3 player (with headphones) it lost all text, ringing tones but alarms still worked.if i increased the volume button on the side it showed up (HEADPHONES) on the screen even though they werent connected.
its gone back to apple now (after preforming a restore just incase it was a software issue)
