Get rid of carrier settings?

Is it possible to get rid of O2's carrier settings?

I'm asking because it looks like wifi hotspot can be created with the upcoming iOS 4.3 and no doubt O2 will want extra bucks to allow this to be used.

So is there a way to make the phone not have any tie to O2? Will they be able to know or limit the use of wifi hotspot if the carrier file doesn't exist?

I'm eligible for an unlock from O2 if that makes any difference.

ya could delete the o2 carrier bundle but since 4.1, i think, carrier bundles are downloaded over the air straight to the iphone

Carrier files are downloaded straight to the phone so deleting them just means that new settings would be downloaded straight away I'm afraid. The carrier file would not determine the updates or charges on the iPhone though, the sim card would govern the charges and the updates are sent by Apple once approved by O2 to any O2 branded iPhones.

How do you delete the carrier bundle? I've an unlocked phone with Three. I have tried this is the past, but couldn't do it, I think the instructions were for pre-iOS 4.1 so didn't work with the new bundled set up. Can it still be done now that Apple have decided to bundle the settings with the iOS files? Even to be able to see/edit the settings again would be nice!
