Hi, I have an interview in the morning in Blanch and need to travel by bus from Collins Av beside Whitehall junction past Drumcondra. I can't seem to figure out the Dublinbus search feature on their site. Does anybody know what buses go from here? I need to go to main street in Blanch.

    Thanks!!

I'd go with the 17A, it involves a little bit of walking but avoids the city centre.

The 38 (Easons, Parnell Square, Mater Hospital) or 39 (Virgin Megastore) will both leave you on the main street of Blanch.

You could also get the train from Drumcondra to Castleknock; it will leave you maybe five minutes walk from Blanch village and will certainly be the quicker option.

You need to get the 17A and get off at the last stop in Blanchardstown Hospital and you can walk to the Main St from there, 10 minute walk. You can get 17A from Santry Avenue near the Omni.

I heard the 17A goes to the Blanch Shopping centre now

It's always gone to the shopping centre but OP needs to get to Main St, Blanchardstown :)

It heads into the Centre before going to the hospital where it terminates.

The 17a does not terminate at the hospital. It terminates at the Shopping Centre - it serves the hospital en route from Kilbarrack.

It has intermediate times at the hospital which might be the source of the confusion.

Aha Network Direct you fool us again... I haven't looked at the 17A route since the first consultation of Network Direct where it was supposed to terminate at Connolly Hospital!

    Sorry for the confusion folks!

Hi, does the 17A go from anywhere around whitehall or collins avenue. Beaumont hospital is a good 20min walk from where I live. Is it just me or is Blanch shopping centre really inaccessibly from where I am? Would have thought getting buses there would be easy given I am on the north side and all.

    Thanks

The closest the 17a gets to you is Beaumount/Santry/DCU. There are very few "cross city" routes on the northside, i cant even think of any others right now. Its either walk to a 17a stop or get a bus into town and back out to blanchardstown

You could get the 104 which comes across the Shantalla flyover, south on Swords road, right onto Collins Avenue and then north on Ballymun road. That will bring you to Beaumont/Collins/Glasnevin where you can change to a 17a. It's not the most frequent of bus routes though (the 104 that is).

It's probably faster just to walk west on Collins Avenue towards Ballymun Road or north on Swords road towards Santry avenue and get the 17a from there.

Yeah I am not too far from the omni in Santry. Does the 17A go from outside it?

    Thanks

It goes east/west along Coolock lane and Santry avenue which is about 5-6 minute walk from there. There's a map on the DB website showing the stops and here is a route showing where to walk to the Santry avenue stop or the Coolock lane stop.

Can you still buy records at the virgin megastore?

Yes, you can. But Virgin Megastore has been closed for years, it is now Supervalu!

I know it's gone years now but it's what many people know it as; it's a landmark if you will :)
