I am terrified!

Hi all..I am new to this..looking for someone's advice

Basically the story is I have been in a relationship the past 5 years, we took a little break around the start of jan and while we are now back together - I did sleep with somebody else.

My worries are these - I had a period the 11th of Jan..the following week I was fooling around with this person although we didn't have sex, I still went and got Levonelle as I was just paranoid as I came off the pill back in October. I took the pill on the Friday (21st) and the following Wed (26th) I had a light bleed which lasted maybe 2/3 days - I realise this is not uncommon after taking emergency contraception. Following this, this other person and I slept together, using condoms on the 31st of Jan. Since then, I have just been worrying myself sick about whether I could be pregnant, I know there is always a risk even with condoms..but am I being ridiculous? I also know that I am feeling guilty and worrying about being with somebody else although we were on a break but still...if I got pregnant by this other person it would be the worst thing in the world I have no doubt, and I really don't know what I would do. My next period is not due until next week sometime and I know worrying is only going to delay it more....does anybody have any advice?! I am feeling sick at the thoughts of it all and imagining all sorts!!

OP, if you used a condom and took the emergancy pill correctly, as long as you werent on anti-biotics, threw-up, or excuse the graphics, had bowel movements, you should be fine. Furthermore, your period is due next week, so Im sure you will get it, but yes severe stress could very likely delay it.

Try not to worry. Although condoms are not 100% safe, they are highly safe in protecting you from pregnancy. So the chances of you being pregnant are slim to none if they were used correctly?

Thanks so much for replying...I know myself I am being paranoid but I just cant help it! My mind is in overdrive and it's all I can think about...I know that condoms are usually safe, I used them with my boyfriend when I came off the pill and didn't worry about getting pregnant, although I know this is because we were in a relationship and it wouldn't be the end of the world. It's because it's with this other person that I am freaking out Now the guy did check them afterwards and I saw him do it, he filled them with water to make sure there were no holes..but still, ugh, the nerves in my stomach, I cant eat!!

Anyway..thank you both for the advice..hopefully it will all work out ok and I'll feel like a big idiot havin to even post this on here lol

Don't feel like an idiot, its probably one of the most common concerns women face when it comes to sex. Perhaps going back on the pill would be an option for you, it would lessen the chance of you worrying again, and if that doesnt suit, theres so many different types now such as the Patch and so on. Worth a shot, if you want to avoid worrying. All the best

OP just remember that sometimes after taking levonelle your period dates might get messed up and even though it's due next week it may be late. Also stress and worry can mess up your cycle too so try relax and calm down about it.

It's easier said than done but most of us have had worries like this at some stage so put it to the back of your mind and just get on with everything unitl your next period comes;)

Awhh thanks all for the words of advice...I will surely be going back on the pill if all works out well can't handle the stress of just using condoms and having to worry constantly arghh!!
