Classic Car Hire

I'd like to hire a nice 60s/70s car for a weekend in the summer.
Not sure what I'd like, but not too fussy. A Triumph, MG, Capri, Mustang, Citroen DS something along those lines.

Does anyone know of other companies in Ireland like this one?
    http://www.heritagesportscars.com/

    Anything in Leinster?
    Thanks

I run a classic car hire portal Classic Car Hire World and run courses telling people how to setup companies hiring out classic cars. Hence I know most of what is going on in the classic car hire industry across Europe and beyond.

Unfortunately the answer to your question is a big NO, there is no other company renting out classic cars for self drive hire in Eire.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I'll show you a few optional routes that'll take you along the coast, a spin out over Errigal and down through the poison glen is not to be forgottten. Check out youtube clip of James May reviewing tr6, very accurate.

I don't think anyone here needs a review from Top Gear as to the beauty of driving something like a TR6!

Would love a go myself...best of luck with your venture. :)

Hi there, looks like the Irish Self Drive Classic Car Hire market is opening up! Camaar Classic Car Hire is based outside Banbridge Northern Ireland, about 20 minutes north of the border. Like Golden Oldies we're just setting up for our first season and aim to be available for bookings between April and September. We should have our web site, www.camaar.co.uk, up and running within the next few weeks. For our first season we have a Spitfire, Stag, MGB Roadster and a series III E-Type Jaguar roadster. We're obviously ideally located for the north east quarter of Ireland, from Derry to Dublin. I would hope that Ireland's capable of sustaining a few businesses of this nature and we're all given some local support.
Keep an eye out for our website and if anybody wants to contact us in the meantime please email on cathy@camaar.co.uk or or Facebook.
And one last thing - everybody please keep their fingers crossed for a scorching hot summer (all our cars are rag tops !)

looking to buy a jaguar e-type actually but came across this in my search for tips. my wife and i rented a stunning jag e-type from heritage sports cars in adare in co limerick late last year - since then i want one. found them on the open road actually. although we live in dublin we stayed overnight in adare and took the e-type on two differnt routes recommended by them. the owner elaine is absolutely superb and her cars are in a1 condition. we're going back for the ferrari rental in april (already booked!) and heading to west cork for a week. really can't wait. they tell me they have an aston martin and jensen on the way. really cool now. thorouly recommend them. www.heritagesportscars.com. might check out that e-type roadster sometime camaar - let me know when it ready!

I'm looking at renting a classic up north this time. Cant seem to acess camaar.co.uk. Is this firm still in operation does anyone know? Thanks. Or is there a number for them?

Sorry but I know the good people at Camaar and they've called it a day. It's our first year in business too and i can understand their frustration. Crap weather has been a major setback. Not much interest in a classic convertible in this weather!
We've a TR6 booked for a wedding and a weeks hire in Belfast for next spring so don't rule us out, we might be able to help you.

Thats a shame as I was looking at renting the etype convertible they advertised. Can you deliver and collect to belfast? Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23 jozx7r

I'm pretty flexible. I can deliver to Belfast, I have a delivery charge that covers expenses.
Belfast's approx two and a half hours from here so I'd need €150 to deliver and collect from Belfast.
