Can anyone tell me what kind of deals are out there at the moment in recording studios? it would be to record 2 songs, (Vocals with acoustic and bass guitar), to a quality sufficent for a demo Cd.

Try Rob in Blackrose Studios. For a Demo , depending on the amount of instruments, you should nail it in a day plus mixing/mastering.

Used Blackrose a few times. Really good guy.

We've used a few other places and struggled to get teh same quality.

You'll get Grouse lodge studio 2 for about 400 euro.

Electra in Temple Bar for about 100 euro.

    Big difference in quality though!!

    Thanks Niall, for that.

Is Blackrose in Kildare? Approx how much would they charge?

Someone else mentioned Electra, said about 100 for 12 hours which should be way long enough to get 2/3 tracks.

this is a trap many new bands fall into (assuming you're new)

if you are very very very well rehearsed, tuned, equipped (etc) and you are very familiar with the processes and you have someone decent doing the engineering (not guaranteed for 100 a day but that's more assuming on my part :)) then you might even have some chance on getting 2/3 tracks down to a good quality (good being the operative word here)

its always best to start small - aiming for one track, done very well, rather than a lot of tracks which might sound sh*te cuz they're rushed which will dilute the quality

just my 2 cents - that's been my experience and it tends to be the conventional wisdom, but don't take my word for it, do your research. it is of course possible to do 2/3 tracks well in one day but difficult.

    EDIT
it also depends on what you intend using the music for of course - if its just a demo for you and your friends and to get your feet wet then go for it and have a blast

if its something more serious to impress people online or send as promo then be careful, spend wisely, do your research on who you might record with and how you will record, have your instruments at concert pitch and practice like your lives depended on it!
