Adding seats to a commercial vehicle - VRT implications

    Hi All,
Just want to see if anyone can help me out with this query. I was thinking of getting a panel van (opel vivaro/renault trafic/nissan primastar) and putting some seats in the back.

What I would like to know is will I have to pay VRT and any idea how I would calculate it? I was thinking of an 04 to 06 van which is worth about €5k to begin with. I have searched for passenger versions of these vehicles and they are really rare and really expensive! I don't mind the private tax as the 1.9 litre version of those vans would be plenty powerful for my usage.

Alternatively I could get a crew cab and remove the bulk head and pay private tax. In this scenario would I still have to pay additional VRT?

Any idea if the above conversions would then make it exempt from the DOE and subject to the NCT as there is a cost saving there?
    thanks folks

Don't know the answer but it is a very interesting question.

...nnd what are the VRT implications for those people with commercials who are electing to pay a private tax rate. Is the VRT previously paid revisited?

I doubt the "system" can handle it...
