astra remote locking

right well after searching the net for a long time ive no real result. this is not a simple case of just the remote fob being knackered. i have one remote key for my astra g. the central locking works fine no problems there. however, the remote locking is a bitch! every time i sync it, it works for about 10 times after that and then loses sync with the car again ( i would think ). the boot lock also does not open with the central locking of late and i have to unlock that manually now. the remote obviously works and the battery is fine too.
any idea as to what may be the solution? i dont want to buy a new remote fob for obvious costs but if i got a price of about 100 for a new remote + programming i would use that as key no1 and then use my current as spare.

Yep I've seen similar before on an Astra G too. I opened the key and removed the remote PCB. There were dry solder joints on the pins connecting the battery terminal to the PCB. Once resoldered, it worked fine,

I think you might be able to buy the fob PCB from EBay, and use your own key and transponder chip with it. After that, just sync the fob to the car as you did before.

EDIT: if you are resoldering your own PCB, make sure the soldering iron used has a small tip. A big hot tip will butcher the PCB

yeah a guy with the same problem said he used this to fix his but my brother has an astra too and i tried using his key but couldnt get it to stop locking his. the chip seems to be pretty snug in his key and surely that would be coded to look his car?

Head to: Autokey.ie ... Nass Road !! They should sort out your problem!!

    Ask the lads on http://www.totalopel.com/

Or best still go to a local dealer!! Fobs can be bought on flea bay but the problem is ur own is weld sealed and hard to take apart, dont wanna damge it if its ur only key!!

A fob from a main dealer will cost about 180euro same for a private firm. A basic straight key will cost 140euro from a dealer.

Had the misfortune myself to buying a car with one key! Its a right pain to sort out!!

Send boards.ie user Lucifer a PM. He works in an Opel service garage and should be able to help you out. He knows his stuff and has a key on order for me and also made my Astra G pass NCT first retest after it failed a number of items when I first put it through (first time after buying it, no service or work done since purchase).

With regards to Autokey, I wanted a simple spare key that would open the door and start the ignition, didn't care about the remote at all, but they wanted I think at least 120eur which was far too much just for a spare.

Lucifer is Dublin based but may still be able to help you, or even advise you on what the best course of action to take is!
