sorry i meant "Aged" look. (if a mod could change that for me)
Anyone know how to create the aged look this guy done with his ak's?
Im more wondering how to do it with the metal, rather than the wood.

and id like to know if it can be done with m4's?

    example:

    i think that looks brilliant!

i would have thought itd be more complicated.

do ya know if any aeg can be done?
I wouldnt wana start scratching into an m4 only to find out i wont be finding any silver underneath.

This might seem odd at first.

Instead of just rubbing blindly, I 'aged' mine by sticking some light sand paper* to an old pair of gloves and then handling the gun a lot.

This way you get a lot of wear at the parts that are regulary touched, and a little wear at the other parts.

*Cut the sandpaper into fingers and palm before sticking to gloves.

Rather than sand paper, use wire wool.:)
There are several different grades available from most hardware type shops.
It isn't as abrasive as sandpaper (or wet and dry type papers).

    Flour.

Put it on your hands, then handle the gun. Then do your aging.

    Flour?

Yes, flour. That powder crap that is used for baking and gets absolutely everywhere. Put it on your hands, and start handling the airsoft gun that you want to age, leaving behind powder imprints. That'll show the parts most likely to wear with contact. Then Age appropriately.

i wouldnt recommend using sand paper due it its nature it scratches ,use very fine-fine steel wool and it buffs the area leading to a much better finish. As I was told by a fellow airsofter from here "its very hard to get right" and i totaly agree.I decided not to weather my ak but instead I use it for everything ie making ruts for my feet ,moving rocks, breaking branches.....opening bean cans and its coming along nicely.I dont know how well an m4 will take it mainly because there not usualy made from blued steel but more a painted alloy.

have a look at my thread

Oh! that stuff, which works better, plain or self raising

But, yeah I see the idea behind it.

I would strongly suggest, Super Fine Steel Wool instead of sand paper.
