He got a letter from opel today recalling the car. Have since found out its a plastic card that should be with the owners manual which its not but shouldnt be to hard to replace

That must be a card with vehicle codes etc like peugeot used to do some time go.

That's it, the card with the security details. If its missing it will cost 25e to get the security details reprinted off opel

So the request from Opel to bring the card in is just an excuse to take csh off the any people who wont have it?

Its needed for some of the latest opels as some of them need a code to reset the service parameters.

I got the same letter a few months back (also a 2005 Astra) but it was in relation to some steering thing. I didn't have the pass but they didn't even ask for it, so you should be all right.

On a related note, my camshaft snapped a few months ago (probably a year ago now) and now I get this letter from Opel. I've had SERIOUS problems with the steering and I received another letter from Opel saying there was something wrong with the steering (they claimed they were unrelated ). Everytime I bring my car in for a routine service, there seems to be something else wrong. My front left headlight burnt out and took out all the electrics, cost me €500. Steering cost me over €1500, dodgy battery, brake problems... did Opel sell me a dodgy car or am I just the most unluckiest man alive?
