    Hi,
There are 5 of us travelling to St Andrews in April. We are flying into Prestwick ( i know a lot further, but was so cheap ). Looking to hire a mini bus or 7 seater etc to from Prestwick to St Andrews and back. Has anyone done this before and could recommend a company ?

Looking at the train it cost £40 a head which i think is expensive and a lot of transfers.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me ?

Try St Andrews Executive Travel @ http://www.saxtravel.co.uk/
Our group (16) uses them each November between Edinburgh and St Andrews and they seem excellent.
... and before you ask, I have no idea on cost as it's not organised by me :)

All passengers can get a 50% discount on rail fares to/from Prestwick.... Maybe you have already factored this in to your £40 fare?

You could look in to travelling on the ferry from the north over to Stranraer as well, and its only a picturesque little drive up to St. Andrews, not too bad at all. A car load of us done it for a weeks golf / holiday last summer, and it was nice.

    +1

Drove in 2005, very handy to get to and if one of the lads has a big enough car it is worth it.

Thanks guys, big help. Think we will go with the 1/2 price rail trip. Best option. The reason we are flying is some of the lads are in their 60's and they would be wrecked after the drive so they are flying. Some of the others getting the bot so they are bringing the clubs and bags for us.

Thanks for all your help guys
