Should I give up?

    Hi,

    Just looking for opinions please.

Went for this really good job and have had 2 interviews so far. I was told at my interview last week that their decision should be made by the end of the week. I was also told in my first interview in so many words that the job was mine. The person who gave my reference was also told this. But I didnt get my hopes up and was waiting to hear from them the end of last week.

I didn't hear anything Friday like I thought so I sent an email to the girl who interviewed me (who had previously said to give her an email if I have any questions etc). So got to this morning and no reply so I sent her another quick email just to say that I realise i'm being eager but im just wondering if a decision has been made yet. No reply.

I have other interviews to go to and another job offer on the table that I dont really want to take as I want this job but should I just give up now at this stage considering they havent gotten back to me???

Why don't you tell them the truth?

Just say to them " I appreciate your time in interviewing me and I know that the hiring process has to take place, but I would appreciate a decision soon as I have had another offer".

If they still don't come through, then take the other offer. They can only say 'NO'...

I was thinking of saying something like that but after two interviews and no response I dont want to hound them in case it makes their decision easier - in that they take the other guy on and not me because of my hounding them. Its just annoying as why tell someone a decision should be made by the end of the week then not contact them or return their emails. It just makes me think at this stage they've offered the position to the other person.

TBH - they probably have, but might be waiting on references/background checks before they tell you for sure.

I'd keep plugging away. Go to your interviews, possibly take the other offer if you need to. Don't wait.

If that job is for you, it won't get away...

    Good luck!

I once got a job 9 months after I had done the interview. I had completely forgotten it.
