    Hi,

Thank you in advance for your help.!

    My case:

In 2009 I applied for course title Electronics & computer system and I finished two years out of three in the course.

After two years the college said we will award you final certificate in Network Technology instead of the Electronics & computer System the one which I registered for.
    • During the two years my student ID issued with course name Electronics & computer system.
    • My result description for year one and two title with the name Electronics & computer system.
    • All correspondence documents between me and college through the two years titled with the name Electronics & computer system.
Instead of all the college insisted award me after year three award with Network Technology.?

    My Inquiry:

Dose the college has the legal right for changing the course award while am studding without even let us know?

Do I have legal base to sue the college?

I have more than 15 Documents to prove which course am doing, is that will make it easy case in court.?

    Yours faithfully,

You need to go to a solicitor with your documents.

You can't receive legal advice here.

If you contracted for something, paid for it, and didn't get it, you might have a cause of action.

However, a lawyer would need to see your agreement with the college to see if they reserved any right to change the designation of your course while you were doing it and if they exercised that right lawfully.

Further, for instance, accreditation of the course was withdrawn for some reason by the entity which was giving the qualification, so to speak, the contract would have been frustrated. That might entitle you to a refund, but you would then not get any qualification, if you took the refund.

Whether there are significant differences between the qualification now offered to you and that which you signed up for is also important.

So you could be dealing with a situation where the college has done nothing wrong, or has done something wrong but your remedy might not be the one you would like.

I am presuming you paid the money for your course yourself. The situation is more complicated if the funds came from elsewhere.

You need to see a solicitor.

With that standard of English I would hope that no Third Level institution would give you any kind of a qualification. It is high time some attempt was made to ensure that qualifications mean something!

    Ah cop on,

I know many people doing masters or PHD's who write arseways on the net... Do you feel good about yourself when you put others down? Was it necessary? Is you life that pathetic that you got something from writing that??

The Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC) was established by the Government in June 2001, under the Qualifications (Education and Training) Act 1999. HETAC is the qualifications awarding body for third-level educational institutions outside of the university sector. It is the legal successor to the National Council for Educational Awards (NCEA). HETAC’s remit includes the validation of programmes, setting and monitoring standards and Quality Assurance in higher education and training. It is also charged with ensuring that student assessment procedures within institutions are fair and consistent, and ensuring academic and financial protection for students in commercial educational institutions providing programmes validated by HETAC. For more information on the role and responsibilities of HETAC.Please check out their website www.hetac.ie

I call shenanigans, I mean troll. On the off chance that you are sincere op what did the college say to you when you asked them about the qualification? What was their reason for it?

To be brutally honest, most colleges now call there mixed computer electronics coures 'Networking' or something similar.

The old course titles were devised in the 90's and have no relevance in the current jobs market.

Networks is where it is at buddy, So i would be more than satisfied with the change in title.

This bears no resemblance on the actual classes taken under the course. They should be detailed in any CV.

I have to agree here. I think the change in title will help you gain employment, and will not hinder you.

Personally, if it was me, I'd be very happy about the change.
