He bought a house after being told he had turned a corner? Is he for real?

You have a permanent job, with a pension.. if you think you can do better get a private sector job... it's not the state's fault you bought a house, or that the interest rates are going up...

Frontline you mean? Truth be told, this "debate" is more important than the leaders debate.

There is one difference. The G instead of the F.

You're dead right, but he wasn't the first and won't be the last to do a bit of creative writing in a CV.

All the PIIGS are going to get a reduced interest rate because Europe know we can't pay it back. Renegotiate the deal my arse, Greece would go mental if we were to get an improved deal and they didn't. It'll be a collective deal.

Tony Foley from Economics Dept DCU.

I think he may have worked prior to that in the IDA, when we started attracting US multinational (INTEL etc) to Ireland

Once again Doherty is a great performer.. And him only two months as a TD.. I actually think I would vote for him if I was in Donegal..

I think we might as well go the nuclear option... vote in the Shinners, burn all the bondholders and see what happens.. Adams could also threaten Europe with bombs on the mainland (mainland Europe this time)..... if it doesnt work out we'll just rent it out as a holiday island to the yanks and all head to Australia and Canada...

Like Doherty said, there's no way we can pay 6-8 Billion in interest on top of the deficit we already have.. it just wont work.

Well perhaps my remark was flippant - it still feels like he's Pat Kenny's Rotweiler having a bite at each of the panel - first little tantrum from Moan there too

Pearse is talking out his hole. Their plan amounts to little more than spending as we are for the next year and chancing our arm after that.

Absolutely! Its very easy to boast what you can do when you have'nt a hope of being in the next Govt.

I can't watch Michael Noonan without thinking of the late, Dermot Morgan, he had the West Limerick accent off to a tee.

Leo's point is more that we should be paying the bondholders a return on their investment, and that we should be negotiating them down to a percentage as you would when a company is liquidated..

"you two have so much is common".. :D oh Pat, you f**kn comedian..

It must be a lenihan thing.... but its amazing how Brian Lenihan is nodding madly when some member of the audience makes a point - he nods madly in agreement as if he's gonna swing by the banks on the way home with a memo to sort out the poor lads overdraft - ultimate politican - Conor has the same mannerism too
