Whats the verdict on the Elliot Saltman piece on Sky News? Not too informative really, I'm guessing partly to do with a possible appeal. For anyone interested have a look through the various articles about him on the Scotsman site, the comments are somewhat more revealing than anything else I've read on the subject.

Damn missed it, saw the trailer for it yesterday, set the mental recorder but not the Sky+. Nothing much new revealed then?

You didn't miss much to be honest. Nothing new or controversial.

I was a bit disappointed by the programe, whatever way you look at it the guys name is mud, he has been pulled up on other things Over the years, the kid just seems to have a dishonest streak in him, which is a pity cos he is a fine player.
I don't think he will appeal the ban, I can't see how he would prove he didn't cheat.
He is screwed either way, no body to blame but himself.

Am I right in saying he was cheating my placing his marker beside the ball on the green and then replacing the ball in front of the marker? ie, he was stealing about half an inch?? Imagine jeopardising your whole career and reputation for half a f**king inch??

Totally agree, although in my opinion he should have either owned up, apologised and taken it like a man, or kicked up an almighty fuss with the best lawyers money can buy. Either way he could have got some sort of respect but the way he has conducted himself he will be vilified for a long time.

To me he appears totally guilty, he's a bad egg and has been a long time.

I missed the Sky report (have it NTL-plussed though) - what other examples of his cheating etc were revealed?

    None, probably for legal reasons

Some of the comments here are remarkable. One of the posters is obviously a former Open champion, he doesn't hold back and Elliot isn't the only member of the Saltman family he accuses.

There was alot of other stuff that was removed by the admins too. Seems to be a bit of tarring the brothers too, well one in particular. Difference is he's highly thought of by alot of other players and had a highly commendable amateur career.

I see he has officially stated he won't be appealing his ban, besides passing a self imposed lie detector test. What a surprise!
