Certificate of Competency Question

Does your Certificate of Competency list the classes of vehicle you are covered to drive ?
Is this Cert a public document ?

I did, and passed my car test in 1987, and am sure it also covered me to drive a Motorbike up to 125cc, and Work Vehicles. However when the new style licence with photo were introduced in 1990, and I renewed mine in 1991, I was no longer covered for these classes.

I was curious to know if my original Certificate of competency would have these classes listed, and if that document can be accessed to find out.

    Any advice/help appreciated.

Unless things have changed recently you should be entitled to them but must request to have them added to your licence. They don't give them unless requested. When I renewed my last licence I noticed M and W were missing but got them put on again.

(I'm open to correction but you may also be entitled to an EB and a C1. They used to give them with the standard car test until the late eighties).

thanks for that Wishbone Ash, it seems that i should have specified i wanted to keep the motorbike class in 1991 when I went from the old style licence to the new one, according to the motor taxation staff. That wasn't made clear to me at the time. so it looks like a bike test :(
