partially blocked toilet

    Downstairs toilet not taking solids away.When you flush ,toilet fills up and water empties slowly.Toliet going straight to an A.J. no other on line connections.Have tried caustic soda and plunger already.Help

    This is my first post on this board :) there's an art to unblocking a toilet ;) to cut a long story short, use a mop not a plunger. Use the mop as a plunger to create suction, you'll be amazed at the results. When it's free, flush. Then plunge, plunge, plunge, flush. Repeat the plunge/flush until you're happy it's running free ;) there's only one small snag, you'll have to dispose of the mop as it'll stink like hell.
