Foreign marriage, divorce in Ireland - one party unwilling to - possible or not?

I am wondering if anyone on here has any experience of my situation. I am married but separated from wife. Kids live with wife, i recently started paying maintenance. She got custody while i was medically incapacitated. To preserve my rights to children, i have refused to contemplate divorce (proceedings ongoing), which i have ignored, hopefully until joint custody re-established. Marriage was contracted in court while we BOTH lived abroad. She is recently Irish, I am EU citizen by birth. What is the legal situation in Ireland? I live in France, they live in Dublin. Ideas please - i need access to my kids, which i dont have at the moment.

Advice would be to call a solicitor.

You need to get proper advice. You also need to find out where the divorce is being sought - Irish rules are quite restrictive. http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/birth_family_relationships/separation_and_divorce/
