    hi
Ive just got a new hdtv with freeview.I dont expect to be able to pick up any freeview channels.
When I auto tune it with the nomal arial tv it doesnt pick up channel 4 which we were able to get with the old tv!
Also we have a cable fom our sky box dfownstairs leading up to the bedroom with a normal coaxail cable which we used to just plug into our old telly and watch sky but now that cable wont work on the tv.
    Does anyone have any ideas???
    thanks:mad:

Can you get BBC or UTV at the moment on it? If the TV has Freeview on it then it's for the UK market and possibly won't pick up channels you previously had.

Your old TV was presumably analogue only. You are presumably in a border area and were picking up overspill fom NI/Wales/

Where are you ? What model Tv did you buy ?

The Sky problem. You connect that cable to the TV and have to tune in the channel on the news TV. It is being sent on a UHF analogue channel from the RF modulator on the Sky box.

I am guessing you have bought a small 19" TV with Freeview only TV that has no analogue tuner and the Freeview signal from NI isnt strong enough. But if you tell me the exact model and where you are it will be easier to answer.

    Hi

I have sorted out the channel 4 problem but still having the sky problem.

When plugging in the Outdoor Aeriel, it's fine on the "TV" Mode. We don't expect the Freeview to work on the "DTV" Mode.

The Sky+ box in the sitting room runs a normal coaxial cable up to bedroom. However when we plug this cable into the new TV, it comes up with a "No Signal" Message on all of the different Modes. Is there a way I can connect it to my tv upstairs so I can watch Sky ? The same cable was ok when plugged into our old analogue TV.

The new TV is a Cristal 15" HD Ready LCD TV with built in DVD & Freeview (CTVL15W17HDVDF)

    Thanks

No. It doesnt have an analogue tuner. Its a Digital Freeview tuner ONLY/DVD combo suitable for the UK.

You must be picking up Channel 4 from the freeview tuner which means you are in a border area?

Yeah probably are border area as we are in Meath. I have picked up all the channels I got on the analog one ie BBC1,2,UTV,Channel 4,RTE1 and 2 TV3 and TG4 and on digital tv part it only picks up some radio channels only problem is sky but we can live without it but thabnks for your help anyway

I know I might be a bit dim on this but, can anyone advise me? I've just tried to tune in a new telly for an old lady but after going through all the installation process it just keeps saying "no signal". When I put her old telly back on the picture was quite fuzzy. Does this mean the aerial signal itself is poor and might need resiting? We are in north Clare and all signals like mobiles and even Sky seem to be poor. Thanks for any advice.

What does the Saorview coverage checker say about the location in question? You can drag the marker to the exact spot on the map.

On her old telly, were RTE 1 and 2 ok, but TV3 and TG4 very fuzzy?

If so she probably only has a VHF aerial.
You will need to change to a UHF aerial for Saorview.
