2 Opel Insignias develop identical faults on same day, 5 days after warranty runs out

Strange or what, 2 Opel Insignias bought the same day 2 years ago, both with just over 100,000 km on the clock, both started guzzling coolant on the same day last week, and warranty was out by 5 days !!!

Cost over a grand for us to get them fixed, with Opel (allegedly) paying half.

Not sure what the problem was, water pump housing or something, but bit strange.

Anyone else having trouble with Insignias

A dark side to 'The insignia project' perhaps.....

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

In fairness it was outside warranty on cars with a very serious mileage for their age. And the bill wasn't massive for a main $tealers$, especially since they covered half of it. Bit of a coincidence though that both cars developed the same issue at the same time!

Opel could have shown more good will here, imo - especially as you are a volume customer and the cars were only 5 days out of warranty. Must be a design/manufacture issue - too much of a coincidence not to be! I'd say this will be a regular problem for this model at that mileage.

What's the 'metric' for mileage, btw?

Kilometreage - but that just sounds plain wrong, so it's still mileage then confirm whether that's in km or miles :D

Is very strange for 2 to go at the same time. Can't be a major issue affecting all of them, as it's the first I've heard of coolant issues on the Insignia (have hundred's on fleet).

Did they have full dealer service histories?

My Insignia is 2 years old, and 37,000km on the clock.

Just had it serviced yesterday and nothing about any coolant issues, but the coolant was replaced, as was an O ring.

Both insignias didnt have service work carried out the day before or anything like that?

How much did each car actually cost you directly to fix?

What exactly failed, what was the repair. Warranty end date is one thing but 5 days over is rough.

I was considering an insignia as a next motor but I think if that sums up their customer service then looking elsewhere would be wiser. What engine was it as I would like to do a bit more searching on issues.

    Thanks

It gets worse. Seems now, coolant is gone after a short drive. Got the car back Thurs evening and it was fine. Drove Dublin to Drogheda on Fri and on the way back I got a low coolant level. I had a look Sat morning, and the thing was empty. So, I filled it up again. Drove Finglas to Marino, and the damn coolant warning message came up, and when I checked, again the coolant tank was empty.

I'll be in to Joe Duffy Opel Mon morning, first thing, to have a word.

Major electrical problems with Insignias too according to an Opel mechanic I know.

I must say, that other than this induced coolant fault, after it was serviced, the car has been brilliant. Not a single bother with it otherwise.

Ok, car fixed this morning. They said it was an airlock in the coolant system. They cleared it out, refilled the system and it's fine. I took it for a good drive, just to be sure.
