New laptop with longer warranty

Anyone have any recommendations for me for a laptop with warranty of more than one year. I recently got stung when my old laptop was just over a year old (out of warranty) and got hit with a huge repair bill from the manufacturer after already attempting repairs with local shops.

I have 400-550 to spend and would want it for basic college work, internet/streaming and some games (football manager would be the height of it). However i'm guessing if i want to stretch the warranty it will cost more.

    Any help is appreciated :D

just got stung by Asus over a netbook in warranty (brought August).

slight keyboard problem but they reckoned liquid damage so a repair charge of e95 or return unrepaired for e50.

that's one company X'd off my list for my next purchase.

would rather cheaper goods with no warranty atm.

go with the dell extended 3 yr, or get the complete care and you can drive over the laptop and they will replace all the parts:)

Thinking of getting a Sony Vaio with the 3 year insurance pack. Anyone have any experience with this?

The one in PC world let me put down a deposit of... 15 euro and they took the rest of the 150 euro out monthly. Just make sure you go through everything because I think the policy changes from time to time. And also, keep the papers, make sure you do.
