    Hi all,
I always have regarded myself as a good kid, I don't drink or smoke or mess in school. But after thinking about it, am I missing an integral part of growing up: rebelling? I don't feel that it is in me though, I don't know, what does everyone else think?

    Yes you are.

Drink, be a cunt to teachers. It's your job

It's not rebelling if you're doing it to fit in

Every class needs a nerd, you just happen to be the one in your class.

For the record don't take up smoking, it's disgusting. And if you're going to get drunk always try to fall asleep on your side as near as you can to the edge of the bed in case you puke.

If thats who you are, why should you change?
Rebelling doesnt necessarily have to mean that you take up drinking or smoking either.

Nah honestly, I'm sort of halfway between the two: being good, and being a twat

If I went through school again, I'd choose the former. I could have done so much better if I'd actually tried in school instead of trying to make people laugh and not concentrating.

Fuck what anyone else says. Do what you want, but whatever choice you make could reflect in your future.

Personally, I'd say have a laugh; but not to the point where it's getting in the way of your work too much, but that's just my opinion.

Hah Until 4th year I was dead quite!

Then I started to come out of my shell and went to a grind school for the finale two years and started to do so much more.

Dont think teenager..think adolescence as that goes into your 20's!I'm 19 and in my first year in college and probably at my most rebellouse stage yet! :D

I had that fear too when I was 17 and 18 so got out of myself a bit more.Only be a dick to a teacher though if they are unreasonable to you!

Sex drugs and rock n Roll ^^

OP - in my experience the kids who never rebelled during their school years end up going batshít crazy once they leave school and will make the rest of their peers look tame

To rebel against my parents I have to not drink, do drugs and save money for the future. Yeah, Im such a rebel...

seriously though, your not missing out..
no cant really drink anywhere till your in college, and even then, overdo it and your wasting more of your youth hungover.
Everything in moderation is the way to go,
Try new things, but don't do anything you don't want to.

OP you are making too much of a big deal about it, live your life the way you want to live it, you don't need advice from other people on how to live your life, you know yourself :D

Thanks :) I know, I just don't want to regret not having any craic when I was younger.

Everyone has a different idea of what "craic" is, yours just doesn't happen to be smoking and drinking. Do what you want, do what makes you happy, life's too short blah blah. You've your whole life ahead of you to experience all sorts of weird and wonderful things.

If that's true then I'm more of a freak than I thought I was. I was never much of a rebel at school except I rarely wore the proper school uniform. I didn't drink, smoke, go with bad women or do drugs. And I still don't to this day.

This guy watches too many movies.

    That's Hollywood.

Either that or Bristol, and he's watched Skins too much.

You are correct there lol, this idea that I might be wasting my teenage years came to me when my little sister forced me to watch 17 Again with her. lol

no man not really, think about it, if you keep up the good work, you'll probably do well in school, do well in college and get a savage job and loadsa money.. then you;ll get savage wife, car house etc... you'll have the last laugh.

on the other hand, you could do what i did, messed like ****, drank like a eejit and end up in the civil service getting wages cut and a moany f$%king bird

Best crack is to be had in your twenties when you have your own place, your own money and half a chance of getting laid. All you're missing out on now is trying to score bad-tempered hormonal teenage girls who think they're great because they managed not to get tan on their hands and spending your time drinking nasty cheap cans of beer in a car park. Whoopeedoo. Give it a miss, better times are ahead.

    Yes, you are.

In another few years you can be tried in court as an adult.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,005 ✭✭✭CorkMan

All that rebellion stuff is a myth IMO. A myth probably made up by the drink/smoking/music companies saying:

    BUY OUR PRODUCT; REBEL.

You've all your twenties to act the bollox. Work hard now keep the head down and you'll be laughing all the way through your late teens and twenties!

Indeed, token rebellion is merely conforming.

OP - You are who you are and don't try to be something your not, so just be yourself.

You should be wasting your teens pulling the stones off yourself.

F*ck rebellion. **** your nuts off while you still can.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,394 ✭✭✭JamJamJamJam

I'm the same as you: don't drink or smoke. Just remember when you're out don't wait to have fun, just.. have it! Go nuts! Do crazy stuff! Most people will be drunk anyway so they won't mind :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 476 ✭✭Nuggles

Don't do "rebellious" stuff like drink and drugs and smoke. Everyone does that eventually.

You'd me much better off using all your free time to have sex. LOTS of sex with lots of different people. Teenage girls think you'll love them if they have sex with you, abuse their naivety before they wise up.

Well you may continue on the path of good behaviour or you may find that at a certain point in your life you think wtf am I doing being a caring responsible individual. I say when you have a thought whatever that maybe just dont use your concience for once be bad bad to the bone as long as its not mass murder you will get away with it.

I have an abnormally large conscience lol, I feel bad if I don't hold the door open for someone behind me lol. Also I live in the arsehole of nowhere so even if I wanted to go mad, there is no where do to that lol

FINE, frig sake you useless teenager. Coming in here, asking adults for advice. You're supposed to tell us we're old and don't understand you.

If you "can't" do anything decent because of your "conscience", just start wearing eyeliner, a dog collar, grow a fringe and dress like an anorexic man-girl.

The only teenage thing you've got down is moaning about nonexistent "problems".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,678 ✭✭✭LambsEye

Dude, your teenage years are all about becoming comfortable in your own skin.

For me, it was all about music, my mates and the experiences I had with the two. Sometimes that involved boozing and drugs, sometimes it didn't. But I mostly just went with it. I do not regret a single thing about anything I did. It all comes down to experience. Every experience you have right now will add to the person you'll become!

If I had ANY advice for you, it would be: Don't worry about the life that you think you SHOULD be living. Embrace every opportunity that comes your way, don't do anything you're not comfortable with, but at the same time push yourself to do **** you mightn't have done before, (You'll know the line between the two.) Don't let people ever, ever, ever, dictate to you what you should be doing.

Man. Hang on. Just F*cking enjoy yourself.

"MTV What have you done to me?"

You're probably gonna have a major mid life crisis, woohoo roll on your 40s :pac: I have a 17 yr old daughter that was born 40 she has more sense than me, I went to Majorca last year and left her with the house expecting a party or two, nope came home and the house was immaculate, windows shining, she spent the week playing housewife  my next daughter on the other hand, I wouldn't leave her in charge of the doghouse, she would throw a party in it. There's a lot to be said for being sensible, you'll have freedom your raver friends can only dream of :)

Never take up smoking, its a horrible addiction.

Wait til college for the rebellion :p

But seriously, forcing yourself to "rebel"'d be no fun, do what you enjoy, don't be afraid to try new things and just have a right craic doin' it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,739 ✭✭✭johnmcdnl

how about be good in school and get 600 points for the craic..

but ****ing hell man get out there and starting drinking, don't smoke though - that's bad for ya.. and score as many ****ing women as you can get your hands on..

do get the 600 points an a brilliant college education - then you'll get the amazing women in later life when your loaded ;)

Think of it as rebelling against other teenagers. I did some stupid things as a teenager just to get attention from classmates that I didn't even like. I wish I had had the courage just to live my life doing what I thought was right rather than trying to impress scumbags.

By the way any teenager that thinks smoking makes them look cool is seriously deluded.

No I don't think so. I'm much the same. Rebelling is just a childish thing people do who have too strict parents or to fit in. The fact that you don't need to do those things shows you were raised well.
