I'm looking to get a number of items transported from the UK to Ireland.

There's about 14 boxes, total weight is about 160kg.

Using Royal Mail, it'll cost me £500 plus.

Can anyone recommend a haulage company?

Talk to Mail Boxes Etc. and PostNet in Rathmines - the have arrangements with UPS and DHL for bulk deliveries.

I did a bit of calling around last year for something like this and ended up using http://www.aaeconomyfreight.com/ and found their price and service very good. My shipment was a bit bigger (over 220Kg) and the distance was further (continental Europe) and the price was less than half of what you've been quoted.

You might also have a look on www.bidforfreight.ie It's a website that tries to match up freight companies with return loads. Or just ring Hales, the black and yellow crowd that advertise on the radio.
