    From The Score (TheJournal.ie)
SACKED SKY SPORTS football pundit Andy Gray is in talks with an Irish radio station about a return to the studio.

Beat 102-103 are in discussions with the TV personality’s representatives, the station confirmed to The Score this afternoon.

Gray was sacked in the wake of a sexism row at Sky Sports which also eventually saw his co-presenter Richard Keys resign.

The Waterford-based radio station now hope to offer Gray a route back to the airwaves with a weekly programme.

“We’re currently talking to Andy’s management and we’re pretty hopeful that we can work something out,” said Martin Clancy, the station’s sport editor.
Clancy said that he doesn’t envisage any controversy if the appointment is ultimately made.

“He’d be in London so there wouldn’t be any problems if our female members of staff had any issue with it,” he said.

Clancy added that he wouldn’t expect a backlash from listeners despite the charges of sexism at Sky.

Most of our listeners would be men for a show like that. So I can’t see any problems.

Beat have plans for a weekly show that would reflect on the weekend’s Premier League action, similar to the job he carried out for Sky Sports.

“It would be along the lines of the Last Word programme that he used to do on a Sunday evening on Sky. It would be from London though – that’s the way we’re pitching it,” said Clancy.

“He’d come down the line on an ISDN and we’d have someone in the studio patching through calls.”

Gray was shown the door at the station in the wake of damaging behind-the-scenes footage which emerged last month.

He and presenter Richard Keys were first heard discussing the merits or otherwise of female match official Sian Massey before the Liverpool and Wolves.

They also spoke about a newspaper column on sexism in football written by West Ham chief executive Karren Brady.

    Thoughts? :)

    Will never happen though.

    Merely cheap publicity.

Bard falls for an opportunistic but low cost publicity stunt...

Ah, never posted my opinion, did I? I didn't "fall" for anything.. merely posted the article and asked for thoughts without biasing responses by giving mine.

I happen to agree with you, by the way, on it being a marketing stunt.

Isnt it a rule on boards.ie that you cant just post an article without giving your own opinion.. :D

I find it amusing that his career seems to be following a similar trajectory to that of Alan Partridge.

Would be nice if it worked out, but maybe a publicity stunt.

iRadio did a similar thing in the past, around the time Russell Brand got sacked. Sent a presenter over with a contract to his managers office. Made a big deal of it, but not sure if they ever even got a PFO from him.

But hey, any publicity is good publicity. Always liked Beat

Not that I know of, but there's certainly a rule about back seat moderation on this forum. So don't do it. :P

Quite a coup (not really!) if this happens.
