I have joined the forum and there is an intriguing thread about buying into the Irish market. Here are the bits of interest so far
    Hey guys,

First off congrats, it all seems to becoming nicely for you all - hope it continues that way as well!

Just wondering if it's just the UK programme rights you have/will have or will the channels also be available in the Irish Republic?

    Hi

    Thanks for your kind comments
All three channels will be available in the Republic of Ireland on Sky, and, if a channel acquisition deal that we're hoping to complete goes ahead, hopefully on digital cable as well

Probably a stupid question that you can't answer, but which Irish channels are you hoping to buy (shame its not RTE, but they're probably available very cheaply !)

I think channel aquisition referes to an empty channel number on UPC rather than an actual station (open to correction!)

Its an actual station that we're looking to acquire, well actually network of channels.

Unfortunately we, and they, are covered by a confidentiality agreement so we can't disclose anything about it at this stage

    3e (as was Channel 6) from TV3

    TV3 + 3e?

    City 7 TV ?

Bubble Hits? Gone nearly 2 years ago.
Buzz TV Smile TV MiTV : Also all dead

    Maybe UPC's City channel
    Sounds mad.

Well as many of the films one of the channels listed above show appear to have Film 24 branding, and that it's a lot of the same management involved in Electric Sofa, I'd imagine it's them.

They've also started to use on-screen continuity announcers, which I understand Electric Sofa are going to do as well.

It'll make a nice change for them being able to introduce something which is not the 57th re-run of Dublin's Dining Guide I'd imagine.:D
