HTC Desire HD Screen Cracked....

So, dropped my Desire HD there a few minutes ago and cracked the screen.

    First.... Gutted and pi55ed!

The phone itself is still working absolutely fine, touch screen is as responsive as ever etc - so the phone itself does not appear to be damaged, seems it is just the glass surround that is damaged (badly) on it.

I'm hoping that I can just get the glass screen replaced - does anyone know if this is possible? Seems to be a basic enough screen.

Fone Fun have, disappointingly, said that they can not replace just the screen, that the LCD would need to be replaced as well - didn't give me a quote but I'm guessing it will be high, a place in Bray have quoted me 170 to do that. Have mailed MPRC to try get info/quote from them.

    Absolutely gutted, and raging.

You should ask Fone Fun for a quote maybe? It mightn't be that bad. In the thread link I sent you, the guy who got his LCD screen replaced got quoted ~£60 (Sterling). That's alot cheaper than the €170 quote you got from a place in Bray!

that is part of my confusion....

I see this on their site which would be the LCD replacement. http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/cable_picker/95547_HTC_Desire_HD_V2_Lcd_Screen_Repair_Replacement_Service.html

So, they have said that the screen can't be replaced on its own - that the screen and lcd would need to be replaced. Does that link above cover both, or is it just the LCD? If it is just the LCD it leaves me still with a damaged screen, so pointless to me. If it covers both then happy days and my phone will be in the post on Monday morning!!

I would guess that it would include both replacing the LCD and the glass screen itself. I am thinking that it would be unusual for the LCD screen to break but not the glass screen. And I would presume that the majority of the cost involved in replacement would be due to the LCD rather than the glass screen.
I suppose the best thing to do is contact them again and get them to specify exactly what they will do and how much.

    Ahhh Haaa
Same thing just happened to me and quoted E200 in Killarney. Not really worth replacing at that as the battery is useless but will try and find cheaper later online today :(:(

Following on from the link kindly supplied above I posted my Desire off to FoneFunShop this evening. I got a quote from them for St£78.74 returned with new glass. I'll not pay for it until its repaired and ready to be returned.
Will keep you posted on how it works out.
If it does come back ok it'll be well encased in future.:(

I'm getting HTC to repair mine. The collect via UPS, quote (€30) 1-2 days, then if you go ahead price of quote included in repair (estimate €60-145) 5-7 working days, returned by UPS.
I'll report back how it goes.
