Is there any? With no sponsorship for the Players Championship, not looking good at the moment for the darts scene.

black & mackay whiskey has been sponser of last few years.

how exactly is it "not looking good at the moment for the darts scene" because 1 tournament has no sponser?

The only reason the Players Championship has no sponsor is because it was dropped by ITV for some reason that I don't know of and no company will sponsor an event that isn't being shown on the TV. Sure why would they, the whole point of sponsorship is because of advertising. I'm sure it will have a sponsor next year when either Sky or the BBC picks up the tournament.

As for the Premier League, I assume it's still Whyte & Mackay as I haven't heard anything different.

Rileys stepped in at the last moment (4 days before it started) of the uk open at a very (VERY) knocked down price.... Players attended 30 odd events promised a tv appearance for the top 32 in the players OOM, which never came about, relying on a stream (that isnt working)

    Hardly ideal

There is no sponsor of this year's Premier League darts as of yet and it's highly unlikely at this stage a sponsor will be found. The recession seems to be hitting the PDC right now and it's definitely not good news that the players championship and premier league have no sponsors.

With ITV pulling out of televising darts and the BBC seemingly not interested in doing business with the PDC Sky Sports are the sole broadcaster of PDC darts at present but surely their limited to the amount of darts events they can televise? Also it has been said on other forums that with the Grand Slam been televised on Sky Sports the World Cup event has been dropped?

While I don't think darts will suffer like it did in the late 80's I could possibly see a number of tournaments been dropped because of lack of sponsors and TV coverage but I hope I'm wrong.

thats shocking . the premier leauge has become a flagship PDC event and to have no sponsor is very bad. i wonder what caused the sudden loss in sponsors.

I think the World Cup has been moved to Jan/Feb which is why it's not on this year. It'll probably repalce the Player Championship as a TV event.

A lot of the PDC's tour is funded through the money made from the Premier League so if there is any loss of revenue it will have a big effect.

I've often wondered how much actual revenue came in from the league sponsor. I can only recall holsten & W&M whiskey as sponsors(?)....and from them 2 I've not seen Holsten cans for sale for years and never heard of W&M before

Some betting company could step in if sly sports would allow it(cos of sly bet)
