    Hi there,

I'm looking for some advice so i can get in better shape. I have given up the smokes nearly a year now and in the past 2 months have taken up Mixed Martial Arts as a hobby once a week for 2hrs to get fit. I'm currently at 14 and a half stone and 5ft10.
I have tried running on concrete and find i get shin splints so gave up on that.
Last week i have started doing 50 sit ups every morning and pull up's (i can do 5 now :)).

My food intake is not to bad although i do tent to eat large amounts. 4weetabix in morning with cup of tea, lunch toasted ham and cheese sambo on white (i know it should be brown), or on special days i eat a foot long turkey and chicken sub. Im not a good cook and have little interest in cooking so that does be a problem for the dinner, Spagetti Bolognaise (Ragu), sausages and mash, Chicken breast with mash.
I dont really like fish but have been trying to eat fish fingers once a week to get the fish into me and i have bought a can of tuna which is sitting in the press the last week( i cant bring myself to try it, i remember the smell as a kid).
My physical shape is not overly obease but i do have excess weight on the belly which i want to get rid of.

Can anyone give me advice on where i may be going wrong and anything that may help me or even links to a simply food diary i could use?

    Yours truly

    Spades

    Good

    Could be worse

Did you try running on grass or sand? On a treadmill? How far were you running? Did you follow a programme? Did you warm up? Did you stretch? Have you got the correct footwear for this?
I'd hazard a guess & say you don't have shin splints but inflamed periosteum.
I'm not having a go, its just a pet hate of mine!the amount of people that say they have shin splints & don't is staggering.

Last week i have started doing 50 sit ups every morning and pull up's (i can do 5 now :)).
    Good

For the above to change you need to rethink the below big time.

Check the stickies at the top of the forum & in the nutrition sub forum as they have all the info required!

    Good luck
