The Crown Prosecution Service have charged the three players and an agent with match fixing and taking bribes

    http://uk.reuters.com/article/2011/02/04/cricket-pakistan-prosecution-idUKLAL00463020110204
Feb 4 (Reuters) - British prosecutors on Friday charged three Pakistan cricketers with taking bribes to fix incidents in an international match in England last year.

Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir are accused of fixing certain incidents, such as the bowling of no-balls at pre-agreed times, during the fourth test at Lord's last August.

Britain's Crown Prosecution Service said the trio, along with a fourth man, sporting agent Mazhar Majeed, had been charged with conspiracy to obtain and accept corrupt payment and with conspiracy to cheat.

Will the ICC still announce their decision tomorrow or would any guilty verdict on their part be viewed as prejudicial to the Court case?

Not sure, as far as I know there has been no change and the ICC are due to make their decision tomorrow

    ICC decision is out

    Butt banned for 10 years
    Asif banned for 7 years
    Aamir banned for 5 years

Butt will only be out for 5 years, 10 year ban and 5 years of ban suspended, Asif 7 years and 2 suspended, Aamir 5 years.

So basically all out for 5 years. Lenient IMHO.

Such a good prospect, but such obvious no balls. I bet he got paid the least out of the three of them too.

Not for one moment condoning what they did but a 5 year ban in a potential 12-13 year playing career is punishment enough......

Butt won't be missed by Pakistan but the two bowlers will be......hopefully Amir has learnt his lesson and will one day come back

I consider cheating for money in a team sport to be serious enough to be banned for life. Thats just my opinion.

Totally agree, I know Aamir is young, but i would not have been bothered one little bit if he was life time banned. I find the whole thing disgusting. It cheapens and tarnishes a sport I love and in cricket in particular, it completely goes against the ideals of the game

Only saw after I posted that they were suspending parts of the sentences so they would all get 5 year bans

Butt is probably finished, Asif too in all likelihood but Aamir will still be just 23? so plenty of time left for him, not too sure how he will be received by players or coaches in the future

Asif is done I would imagine, Butt could have a chance age wise he'll be 31 would be suprised though. Amir will be back, probably almost straight away. Wouldn't be suprised if PCB made sure he kept training and practising unofficially.

Well...if you cant make any money on the pitch anymore why not make it off it!!

I hope the ICC...er...the BCCI act swiftly and ban him from entering any of the stadiums.

Pakistan's Zulqarnain Haider 'to name corrupt players'

"I had a promising career ahead of me and I sacrificed it all, but I don't have any regrets and my mission now is to clean up the game."

    Zulqarnain Haider

Will be interesting if anyone bothers to ask him, and if he actually has any evidence.

How is Kamran Akmal still playing after that blatantly deliberate fumbled run-out against Australia?
