Paying British National Insurance

    Hi Guys,

    I was hoping someone may have some advice for me I am working for a British company there office is located in aberdeen and paying british national insurance however I am living fulltime in Ireland. It just so happens im being paid through the british system, Is it possible to claim back this national insurance.

    I have searched the Internet high and low and have found loads of contradictory advice I was wondering if there was any boardsys that may have first hand knowledge in this area.

    There's an EU-wide treaty on social insurance. Generally it provides that a person in only insurable in one jurisdiction. That's usually the place where the person's ties are closest. If it can be shown to be Ireland then you should be able to get an exclusion order.

    You'll probably need to get professional help, though your employer's HR people might know enough.
