Hi there, I'm a NQT (Primary) and started subbing this month - got my first payslip for 3 days work and the rate appears very low - €340 in total (390 Gross) - could it be that I have been paid at the unqualified rate in error? I understood that casual sub teachers are paid €195 daily rate? Thanks!

That could be the case alright. You will need to ring the Department of Education and Skills Payroll office in Athlone to fix it. Have your payslip on you when you ring as they need a school roll no. to clarify your employment.

It also could be that you are on emergency tax and are getting charged a high rate of tax. You may need to fill out a tax form (I forget the name of it) and send it off to your local tax office and wait for a returned form which will also be sent to the Dept. of Education for a tax refund. Then you will need ring the Dept. of Education and Skills and clarify that they received the form so they will refund the money in your payslip.

Its all very annoying and time consuming but the sooner you get it sorted the sooner you will start getting paid properly.
