I'm not going to name brands to stay away from as I haven't used more than a few brands. What I can say is that you should stick with the well-known brands like Firefox, Intellect, Hot Power, Kong Power. I have used three of the four (haven't used Firefox) and have yet to have an issue.

9.6 and 11.1 is this the only type available
and will do high like the 11.1 fry a gearbox in a g&g

where in ireland supplies the firefox lipo's or will i have to buy abroad or would irish supplier order them in for me ?

Firstly the 11.1v lipo will most likely be too powerful for your G+G.
Secondly there is no 9.6v in lipo form.
7.4v is your obvious choice-there are however a few other considerations to take into account-
Firstly-it is important to have a good 'BALANCE CHARGER' specific to lipo batteries.A protective bag for charging is desireable as lipos can be very volatile if not handled with proper care.LiPo-Safe Charging Bag / Fire Resistance Case (Small /
As well as the voltage you have to consider two other factors-
    (1) The mah value whiich is basically the capacity of the battery-this will determine how long the battery will last.If you allow a lipo battery to drop below a certain charge you will most likely damage it and render it useless-the one thermo has highlighted is 1200mah-not bad if you are not too trigger happy-that one is mostly designed for a stock tube.
    (2) The 'C' rating of the battery-ranges generally from around 10c up to 25c for airsoft. This determines the output of the battery(available amperage on demand) The higher the 'C' rating the higher the output and consequently the higher the ROF. 15c to 20c should be good enough for your aeg.
Also you dont say if your aeg is rear or front wired-most likely you have handguard or cranestock? Not sure what else QAS stock but ther are plenty of options from online websites such as ehobbyasia or others.I'd recommend something like this for hanguard-
    PAS 7.4V 2200mAh 15C Li-Po (Handguard Type w/ Plug Selection)

or something like this for crane stock-HOT POWER 7.4V 3000mAh 15C Lithium Battery (Crane Type)

The other option is of course to stick with standard NIMH or NICD :)

Hope this helps more than confuses:D

    Dave.

It's a thing I've heard plenty of as a regular skirmisher and a tech "oh, it's lipo ready!" Sorry guys, it's not. Dave has given a great explanation there and you'd do well to follow it.

G&G guns are great, the gearboxes are solid, but they will not take an 11.1V lipo. I use lipos occasional, generally if all my other batteries are dead - but only a 7.4V. Even then before I put a lipo near my G&G, I rewired it and stuck on a deans connector and made sure everything was perfect. The reason I rewired it was because I, personally, didn't feel that the stock wiring would be up to it, as lipos have a far higher output than Ni-Mh or Ni-Cd batteries.
The standard tamiya was replaced, cos well lets face it, as many airsofters know, they melt and the aftermath ain't pretty.

So basically, don't go above a 7.4V lipo and keep the fuse, cos if too much current goes through, something will go poof and it's not nice.

As for chargers, the i-max b6 is undisputedly one of the best going, will charge everything.

    Links to follow.

I reccomend the Intellect Ni-mh batteries, their mini's have lasted me a full day and still have had plenty of power left to chrono guns all week (room full of BBs now, being a tech is fun). The batteries QAS have are also very good from what I've been told, they're racing packs (RC cars, etc) so they've a bit more output.
